PARIS HODSON | 28 | CREATIVE DIRECTOR AT STALF
Paris has always had a keen eye for fashion, eventually going on to study Fashion Design at Westminster University. At the age of 23 she moved back to her home town and started STALF, a women's easy-wear brand. Paris and her team tirelessly hand make every garment from start to finish and carry out every process from design, pattern cutting, manufacture and packing under one roof in Lincolnshire. For Paris, STALF is about readdressing the inequalities within the industry and the fast-fashion mindset and writing their own rules.
The sky was dressed in black silk and silver stars.
For me it's a really evocative reminder to see the beauty in the everyday, and to take inspiration from what's right under your nose (or in the sky above you in this case?)
We're just working on launching the Summer Collection, finalising the Autumn/Winter offerings and preparing to move into our new premises. There are always multiple projects all happening at the same time at STALF.
I want to run a marathon. My dad has run 50+ and ran 4 in 4 weeks. I think he has plans for Singapore or New York for us.
Now the sun's out, I'm listening to anything by Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Multi-Love on repeat never gets old.
FAVOURITE CITY AND WHY?
I'm not really a city person at all so probably Oslo - a slice of the city sandwiched in between fjords and forest, or Edinburgh because it's my second home.
THREE PIECES OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF?
Trust your instincts, get more sleep, eat the cake.
Long walks with the dog, running through the Lincolnshire Wolds and yoga.
My Workshop Coordinator Jade makes everyone in the studio cry laughing every single day, that's a pretty heroic feat in my book.
MOST INSPIRING PERSON YOU'VE EVER MET AND WHY?
My late grandad, Eric. He was a BFG, a calm force in the family and made a mean G+T.
BRAVEST / SCARIEST THING YOU HAVE EVER DONE?
I don't really tend to find experiences scary, but the thing I'm most proud of is carrying and bringing my little boy, Jude into the world.
FAVOURITE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT?
@romyboomsma is my ultimate girl crush and gives me all the style/interior inspiration I need.
I made a bespoke dress for a client, with hand stitched lace embroidery, silk covered buttons and french seams. I'd love to make more one-off, limited edition pieces with couture finishes, it's a totally different way of working, and takes so much time and patience.
FAVOURITE PLACE TO FEEL INSPIRED?
At the little pink studio, early morning when it's quiet and sunny with a coffee and a blank sheet of paper.
