What is your 2019 Mantra?

Feel the fear and do it anyway!

Who is the most inspiring woman to you and why?

The most inspiring woman to me is my mum, because she taught me what great movies are, she loves to dance, has a very naughty sense of humour and although can nag for the Olympics, is someone I love more than anything. Without her, I would be lost.

What is your 2019 Mantra?

Infinite

Who is the most inspiring woman to you and why?

Might be too obvious, but I’m a sucker for Oprah!  I grew up with her in Chicago when she was just starting out and had a talk show on our local news channel.  I find her uplifting, inspiring, generous, sophisticated, empowering and everything I believe a woman can be too.  I could listen to her talk all day long.

What is your 2019 Mantra?

I don’t really have a mantra for the year. I make a new one every time I get on my yoga mat. Most of them could quite easily be translated to inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit!

Who is the most inspiring woman to you and why?

The women behind the Committee for Equity in Women’s Surfing (CEWS):  Paige Alms, Keala Kennelly, Andrea Moller, Bianca Valenti and a couple of others. They really had to fight for change and it took a long time and a lot of hard work but thanks to them we are another step closer not only to gender equity in surfing but equity in all sports and all jobs.

What is your 2019 Mantra?

Lets do this right!

Who is the most inspiring woman to you and why?

Lindsey Vonn has to be the most badass woman skier on the planet! She has won everything you can in alpine ski racing, more than once. Lindsey has had some crazy injuries that for most people would have been then end. She has now stopped competing but set up the Lindsey Vonn foundation which helps girls ski race. Everyone should watch Lindsey Vonn documentary called The Climb super inspirational.

What is your 2019 Mantra?

If it’s meant to be it’ll be….

Who is the most inspiring woman to you and why?

I have 2 women in the public eye that I think are extraordinary:

Christine Lagarde Head of the International Monetary Fund

She epitomises the respected role of women in a male dominated business world. Not remotely intimidated by the her male colleagues but at the same time not a staunch feminist. So comfortable in her own skin. Confident, measured, super smart, charming, sexy and oozes respect. Not only that but has aged so beautiful. Natural, classic and truly real!!!

The other has to Meryl Streep. Again has aged so naturally. She is so comfortable in her own skin…. no mean feat in her line of business. Not only is she an incredible actress taking on such diverse roles but the following piece of prose she wrote for a Harvard University speech she gave a few years go totally sums up why I’m so inspired by her.

“I no longer have patience for certain things, not because I’ve become arrogant, but simply because I reached a point in my life where I do not want to waste more time with what displeases me or hurts me. I have no patience for cynicism, excessive criticism and demands of any nature. I lost the will to please those who do not like me, to love those who do not love me and to smile at those who do not want to smile at me. I no longer spend a single minute on those who lie or want to manipulate. I decided not to coexist anymore with pretense, hypocrisy, dishonesty and cheap praise. I do not tolerate selective erudition nor academic arrogance. I do not adjust either to popular gossiping. I hate conflict and comparisons. I believe in a world of opposites and that’s why I avoid people with rigid and inflexible personalities. In friendship I dislike the lack of loyalty and betrayal. I do not get along with those who do not know how to give a compliment or a word of encouragement. Exaggerations bore me and I have difficulty accepting those who do not like animals. And on top of everything I have no patience for anyone who does not deserve my patience.”

What is your 2019 Mantra?

In 2019, I will not let my fear of failure stop me from trying new or challenging things. I no longer fear failure, I see failure as a tool to make me stronger.

Who is the most inspiring woman to you and why?

The most inspiring women to me are always women who display incredible strength in the face of adversity. For me, they are not usually famous, they are just ordinary women doing incredible things. Gabby Gilson is a good friend of mine who, despite having a spinal stroke when her youngest daughter was eighteen months old, went back to work, is always positive and never lets her disability affect the lives of her family. A woman who is the most selfless person I know and inspires me to be a better person through our friendship. It’s often the unsung heroes of this world who have the biggest impact on people’s lives.

What is your 2019 Mantra?

Pull into sharp focus what really, really matters.
Do less, but do it well.

Who is the most inspiring woman to you and why?

I am surrounded by so many inspiring women it would be impossible to pick just one. All of them radiate their own amazing energy and pick me up in different ways.

I have a wonderful mother who loves me unconditionally, three gloriously talented sisters who are my back up no matter what and a whole group of amazing women who work for me at the Pink Studio and keep their focus on producing great garments and upholding Stalf's wonderful reputation. I also connect with so many diverse women on social media. Today we have the opportunity to connect with so many people from so many different backgrounds so easily it's hard not to be constantly uplifted and inspired.

What is your 2019 Mantra?

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable

Who is the most inspiring woman to you and why?

My mum. Despite turning 80 this year she has more friends than me and a much busier social life and way more energy than me!

She has always been a leader never a follower and has never been afraid to challenge anything or anyone she does not agree with.

Despite constant aches and pains from bad arthritis she still holds down three jobs. She volunteers at our local hospice every Monday, cleans our office and kitchen every Friday and serves tea at my sisters fish factory for all the staff on Wednesday’s. She would never take no for an answer and she is a true inspiration.
