CHLOË HOLT RCA FRSA / 34 YEARS / ARTIST
Chester born artist Chloë Holts has grown from strength to strength with several sell-out exhibitions over the last couple of years. 2012 was the year of recognition for Chloë. She became one of the youngest artist’s ever to be elected as a member of the ‘Royal Cambrian Academy’ and went on to win the prestigious ‘Sir Kyffin Williams Drawing Prize’. Much of Chloë’s inspiration comes from everyday objects and captures the spirit of places and past times.
"Wherever you go, go with all your heart"
Because being true to yourself, inevitably makes your own happiness. Following your dreams nourishes your soul.
I'm working towards the next year and a half worth of exhibitions. (See listings on www.chloeholt.co.uk) I always work to present bodies of paintings which share cohesion, which are different from the last but which retain values from works that came before. My works always hold a sense of simplicity, harmony and beauty in banal everyday objects. The importance of instilling a feeling of contemplation, silence and space to think.
I'm fascinated how time transforms the states of objects and places. I am personally inspired by art and antiques from all genres, whether it be the honesty of Folk Art and Arte povera with their connection to life and nature. At the other end of the spectrum I adore the exuberance and craftsmanship of baroque and Old Master paintings and their extreme sophistication.
You will find elements of previous paintings and thoughts combined with new discoveries, whether place, things or moods. The current mood: puddles of light; ancient symbolic fruits; monolithic important scale; drama through light and weight; quiet contemplation; overgrown grandeur; wild untamed garden foliage indoors; classicism.
People have likened my exhibitions to fashion collections-for those who collect my work await owning a new piece from a future collection. I'm always keen to release work as a body rather than singly to give the viewer an impression of the whole thinking and the elements of thoughts which are the individual works.

THREE PIECES OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF
Don't ever be in a rush to grow up. Adults aren't always right, but they are most of the time so listen to their advice. Make the most of seeing amazing places when you get taken camping... One day only a super-king bed will do, so rough it while you can!
